Capita nella notte un attimo di svegliarsi.
Apri gli occhi:
MERAVIGLIA
del chiarore lunare nella stanza,
quando il caldo dell'estate tace.
E sereno risprofondi nel sonno
a sognare.
Capita di trovarsi lassù a pernottare
guardando giù nell'angolo di pianeta
una formica rimasta schiacciata
dal passeggiar di esseri in cerca
d'amore ed un gelato.
Capita di riaprire gli occhi
e di confondere
la lucciola con una luna
piena − rapidamente nuova.
Fortuna che c'e' la zanzara:
zzzz
a farmi compagnia vicino all'orecchio.
Capita tutte le sere. Lei, almeno. zzz...sss.

It happens that you wake up in the middle of the night.
You open your eyes:
MIRACLE
of moonshine in the room,
when the summer-heat has quietened down.
And serenely you go back to sleep
to continue dreaming.
It happens that up there, passing the night
looking down you find
in the corner of the planet
an ant, squashed by the ambling
of beings in search
of love and ice-cream.
It happens that you open your eyes again
to mistake
the snail for a full
moon, quickly turning new.
How lucky, the mosquito is there:
zzz
to offer her company close to my ear.
It happens every night. At least the mosquito. zzz…sss
